Wainwrights
Between 1952 and 1966, Alfred Wainwright walked and hand-drew 214 Lakeland fells across seven Pictorial Guides, working evenings after his job at Kendal Borough Council. He never expected anyone to follow them. Tens of thousands have.
Our prints cover the fells people go back to — Scafell Pike, Helvellyn, Great Gable, Blencathra — and Haystacks, which was not the highest or the hardest, but was the one he chose. His ashes are scattered by Innominate Tarn near its summit.
